Academics — classes, sections and subjects
The structure everything else hangs off, and why it is worth getting right first.
Classes, sections, subjects, and which teacher teaches what.
This is the foundation
The timetable, attendance, marks, report cards and every teacher's scoping all derive from what is set here. Fixing it later means fixing everything downstream, so it is worth doing carefully at the start of the year.
Per year
The structure belongs to an academic year. Next year's classes are set up separately from this year's, rather than by editing this year's out from under the records that point at it.
Subject assignments
Assigning a teacher to a subject-and-section is what puts that section in their portal. A teacher who says they cannot see a class is almost always missing this.
Promotion
Moving students up at year end is a separate operation, not something you do by editing each student's class.
