Online exams

Tests your child sits in the browser, and what happens if the connection drops.

Some schools set tests that are taken in the browser rather than on paper.

Before the attempt

An online exam has a window — it opens and closes at set times. Outside that window the attempt cannot be started.

During the attempt

An attempt has a time limit that runs from when it is started, not from when the window opened.

If the connection drops, reconnect and reopen the exam. The attempt is held on the school's system, not in the browser, so answers already submitted are not lost. The clock does not stop for a disconnection.

After it expires

An attempt left open past its time limit is closed automatically and submitted as it stands.

If something goes wrong

Contact the school the same day. They can see when the attempt was started, what was submitted and when it was closed.
