Communication
Announcements, templates, channels, and the cost decision behind WhatsApp.
Announcements
Write once, choose the audience, send. A must-read announcement asks recipients to acknowledge, and you can see who has — use it when the school needs to prove it told people.
Templates
Automatic messages — a fee reminder, an absence alert — come from templates. A new school is provisioned with a full set; you edit the wording, not the plumbing.
Channels are a decision, per message type
For each type of message the school chooses in-app, email, SMS or WhatsApp. This is a real decision with a real cost, and it is why two schools behave differently.
A pull channel cannot deliver news. If a message type is set so that families have to ask for it, nobody is told anything — that is appropriate for "what is my balance", and wrong for "school is closed tomorrow".
Consent and reachability
A message reaches somebody only if the channel is configured, the recipient has consented where consent is required, and you hold a working address or number for them. All four have to be true. WhatsApp consent is per number and nobody can give it on another person's behalf.
Digests
High-volume types can be sent as one daily summary instead of one message each. Homework is the usual case: forty separate messages a day is how a school gets muted.
