School calendar
Holidays, working days, exams, meetings and events — and who each one is visible to.
Three audiences, and choosing the right one is most of the work: Everyone, Staff only, and Students & parents.
Audience is not a formality
A staff meeting on the parents' calendar generates questions. A half-day that only staff can see strands a hundred children at the gate. Pick the audience when you create the entry, because correcting it afterwards means the wrong people have already planned around it.
Holidays are regional
National holidays are the easy half. The ones that matter locally — a state festival, a regional new year, a local election day — are the ones parents plan travel around, and no default list will have them right for your district. Enter them yourself, early.
Working days
A Working day opens one day the school is usually closed, such as a Sunday or a closed Saturday, for a day made up in place of a holiday. Choose Everyone when children come in, or Staff only for a training day. It is always a single date; add each day on its own.
On that day the staff register expects everyone at work, like any other working day. Families are reminded the day before. Only a working day for the whole school, not one campus, counts as open for concern deadlines and the admissions office.
You cannot put a working day on a holiday, or a holiday on a working day; change or remove one first. Once staff attendance for a month is closed, its holidays and working days cannot be added, moved or removed until the month is reopened. A title can still be changed.
Exams and the rest of the product
Exam dates published here are what families see; the schedule that actually drives marks entry lives in Examination. Keep them in step, and put the exam window on the calendar as soon as it is fixed rather than when it is final — families book tickets in advance.
Before the year starts
The academic year comes from Academics. Enter the year's holidays and the term boundaries before the first day: a calendar filled in as the year goes along is a calendar nobody trusts enough to check.
