Who may collect a child
Checking, at the gate, whether this person may take this child.
The list of people a child may be released to, as recorded by their guardians.
Checking
Find the child; the screen shows who is authorised, with whatever identifying detail the school holds — relationship, photograph, phone number.
If the person is not on the list
Do not release the child. Send them to the office. A guardian may well have arranged it and not recorded it, and the office can check by telephone; you cannot verify a stranger at a gate.
This is the one place where being unhelpful is the correct behaviour.
Recent changes
A guardian who updated the list an hour ago has updated what you see. But a guardian who telephoned the office may not have — if a parent says they called, ring the office rather than assuming either way.
