Who may collect your child
Naming the people the school may release your child to, and changing that list.
The school will only release your child to someone on this list. Keeping it current is the point.
Adding someone
Name the person and their relationship to the child. Your school will say what else it needs — many ask for a photograph, a phone number, or an identity document, because staff at the gate have to recognise somebody they may never have met.
One-off arrangements
A grandparent collecting once is not the same as a permanent addition. Where your school supports it, a person can be authorised for a specific date. If it does not, tell the office directly rather than adding a permanent entry you then forget to remove.
Removing someone
Remove them here, and telephone the office as well if it is urgent or sensitive. A change made in the evening may not be seen by the person on the gate the next morning. Where a court order or a custody arrangement is involved, speak to the school directly — that is not something to leave to a list.
Why the school asks for so much
The gate is the one place where getting it wrong is unrecoverable. The list exists so that the person releasing a child is not making a judgement call about a stranger.
