The configuration everything else runs on — years, terms, calendar, branding.
Academic years and terms
The year is the spine of the system. Terms belong to it, exam cycles belong to terms, and report cards are per term. Setting these up before the year starts is much less work than retrofitting them.
The school calendar
Holidays and working days. This is not decorative: response deadlines and working-day calculations run on it, so a wrong holiday makes clocks wrong.
Timezone
The school's own timezone, used for every clock the school is measured against.
Branding
Colours and fonts from a set of presets, on any plan. Fully custom colours are a Platinum feature, and are checked for contrast — a school cannot accidentally configure an unreadable portal.
Statutory values
Tax slabs, professional tax, late-fee rules and similar are configuration, per school and per state. They are never fixed in the software, which is what lets a rate change without a release.
